AFC Reading's U14 JPL Girls enjoyed a fantastic start to their 11-a-side journey today as they produced an outstanding performance to defeat Icelandic side Grótta 9-0.

The match provided a brilliant experience for the girls, taking on international opposition visiting from Iceland. From the first whistle, AFC Reading started brightly, pressing high and preventing Grótta from settling into the game. Their positive approach paid off early, with the opening goal coming from an unlikely source as the left-back found the back of the net.

The team continued to play some excellent possession football, moving the ball confidently and creating chance after chance. By half-time, AFC Reading had built an impressive 5-0 lead thanks to their attacking intent and disciplined teamwork.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with the girls maintaining their high standards and adding four more goals to complete a superb 9-0 victory.

More important than the scoreline was the quality of the performance. Every player contributed, showing great teamwork, determination and confidence on the ball. It was a fantastic experience for the squad against international opposition and an excellent way to begin their first 11-a-side campaign.
