AFC Reading enjoyed another hugely successful tournament weekend at Barton Rovers, with our U14 Utica Belles and both U15 girls' teams producing outstanding performances, demonstrating the club's trademark teamwork, resilience and determination.

U14 Utica Belles Lift the Plate Trophy

The U14 Utica Belles showed incredible resilience throughout the tournament, progressing to the Plate Final after an impressive group stage that saw them record five draws and five clean sheets.

With no recognised goalkeeper available, every player stepped up to take a turn between the posts, each delivering superb performances and helping the team remain unbeaten defensively throughout the day.

The Belles edged through a closely contested semi-final with a 1-0 victory, setting up a thrilling Plate Final. Locked at 0-0 with just three minutes remaining, a tactical substitution introducing two fresh players changed the game. The breakthrough goal came almost immediately before Brooke sealed the victory with a second goal just a minute from time, securing a deserved 2-0 win and the Plate Trophy.

Considering the soaring temperatures, it was a tremendous team effort from every player, with determination and togetherness shining through from start to finish.

Tigers and Lions Dominate the U15 Competition

AFC Reading entered two teams into the U15 competition, with both sides producing outstanding football throughout the tournament.

The U15 Tigers recorded four wins and two draws, while the U15 Lions also enjoyed an unbeaten campaign with three wins and three draws.

Both teams played fantastic one-touch football all day and, remarkably, neither side conceded a single goal throughout the tournament.

A Club to Be Proud Of

From the resilience of the U14 Utica Belles to the dominance of our U15 Tigers and Lions, it was another fantastic tournament weekend for AFC Reading. The commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship shown by every player made the club incredibly proud and highlighted the strength of girls' football across AFC Reading.
